Quality Engineer has the responsibility to drive improvement initiatives through corrective and preventive actions, continual improvement projects & internal audits throughout the organization. Focus is on resolutions to product and process specific issues. The position will also be responsible for assisting with customer claims and materials engineering activities to create part specifications and routings.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive improvement initiatives through corrective/preventive actions and continual improvement projects.
• Participate, train and educate for continual improvement methodologies including but not limited to 6 sigma, 5S, Lean, SPC, OEE and others.
• Participate in internal audits that to review internal processes for effectiveness.
• Coordinate and participate in audits and improvement initiatives throughout the supply base.
• Participate in supplier evaluations and development activities.
• Complete and submit PPAP documentation.
• Assist in claims processing to expedite resolutions for customers as well as claims to vendors.
• Champion the plant efforts and activities to maintain the status and disposition of materials in non-sellable statuses as well as driving systems to improve first time capability performance.
• Champion records management.
• Champion Gage Calibrations and MSA studies at the plant.
• Conduct and organize Process Reviews including the development of Process Flows, Control Plans, Process PFMEA's, Work Instructions and Forms.
• Provide guidance on the applications of statistical techniques.
• Perform and direct others in the completion of capability studies.
• Oversee and manage all documentation maintained in Eaton’s internal documentation dbase including but not limited to ensuring that all controlled documents are managed in this application and not maintained outside our Quality System documentation.
• Create part specifications, bill of materials, customer notes and routing activities (HDS only).
• Participate in Advance Quality Planning trials, discussion and customer visits.

AUTHORITIES:

Authorities for this job are stated but not limited to:

• Determine the need for specific Process Reviews
• Disposition product at customer location
• Change the status of inventory in-house to ensure material is properly quarantined
• Settle claim matters with customers up to $5,000
• Issue corrective actions to customers, suppliers or other employees
• Shutdown a machine that is producing out of specification product
• Move material out of quarantine to rework, prime or scrap

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Business, Engineering, Quality Management or Metallurgy
• 5 years work experience as Quality Engineer or relevant management experience with steel bar or metallurgical product knowledge
